The Four-Year Area Plan
Every four years the Administration on Aging (AoA) which oversees the Older Americans Act at the national level requires that each state and territory submit a plan for how they will use the Older Americans Act funds and how they will work on the initiatives set forth by the AoA. In turn each individual Area Agency on Aging in the state must also submit a plan to the State Unit on Aging so that they can incorporate these plans into the state plan. The Larimer County Office on Aging submitted their four year plan in January of 2011 and it has been approved by the State Unit on Aging.
The Four-Year Area Plan is posted here so that interested parties can see what the Office on Aging sees as the challenges and opportunities for older adults in our county in the next four years and beyond. Like all plans, it is subject to change, particularly in the areas driven by funding. If you have questions regarding the plan please feel free to contact Ruth Long, Program Manager, at the Office on Aging or (970) 498-7755.
CASOA (Community Assessment Surveys for Older Adults)
The Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA) was conducted by the National Research Center under contract with the Larimer County Office on Aging in June 2010. Twenty-five hundred (2500) older adults in the county were sent the survey, and 1277 responded, providing an overall response rate of 54%. Results by county and the cities of Estes Park, Fort Collins and Loveland are included. Information from the survey was utilized by the Office on Aging to develop the Four Year Plan for Larimer County for 2011-2015, which is required by the State Unit on Aging and supports the State Plan on Aging.
