About Us

The Larimer County Office on Aging (LCOA) is the Area Agency on Aging for Larimer County and serves adults 60 and beyond, adults living with a disability, and caregivers. LCOA plays a unique role not only to provide direct services and fund community partners, but to innovate and advocate to meet the growing needs of the community.

Here are just a few of the ways the Larimer County Office on Aging serves our community:

Helping anyone age 60 and beyond in Larimer County create a plan for the future, including answering questions about long-term care communities and support. Learn more about Options Counseling.
Advocating for residents of long-term care communities and supporting residents in self-advocacy. Learn more about the Ombudsman Program.
Assisting individuals age 60 and beyond in applying for Long Term Care Medicaid or Medicaid Savings Program. Learn more about Application Assistance.

Aging and Disability Resource Center

Aging and Disability Resource Center: The ADRC is a trusted source of information on the full range of long-term services and support options.

Long Term Care Ombudsmen

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program works to protect the rights of residents of assisted living residences and nursing facilities. Any concerned party can contact the ombudsmen with concerns. To learn more, visit their webpage by clicking here.

Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services receives reports of mistreatment or neglect of at-risk adults who, due to age or disability, unable to advocate for themselves. Following an assessment, Adult Protective Services will make referrals to implement services to reduce risk and prevent further mistreatment.

Education

Project Visibility is a training program for care providers with the goal of fostering and promoting an adult and aging services community that is informed, inclusive, and supportive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender adults who are elders and/or disabled. Project Visibility was first developed in 2004 by Boulder County Aging Services. Larimer County has expanded its Project Visibility program to include not only elders but also disabled adults in our area who are members of the LGBTQ+ community. ASSESSOR: Senior Property Tax Exemption

The Senior Citizen Exemption is available to applicants who:

Are at least 65 years of age prior to January 1 of the year of application,
Owned their home for at least 10 consecutive years prior to January 1, and
Occupied the home as their primary residence for at least 10 consecutive years prior to January 1.
