Health & Environment

Mission: To promote a healthy community and reduce unnecessary suffering caused by preventable disease, disability, or death. This mission is accomplished by providing community health and environmental health services, communicable disease control, health education, vital records management, health data assessment, development of policies that advance the public's health, and advocacy for community-based services that provide needed health care.

Healthy Communities Program Assists Pregnant Women - No health insurance? If you are pregnant or have children, the Healthy Communities program at the Health Department can help connect you to health care. The program also assists those already receiving Medicaid and/or CHP+ in understanding their benefits and accessing medical, dental, vision, mental health and specialty services.

Community Health Services
The Community Health Services Division promotes the health and well-being of Larimer County residents through a variety of health programs and services, including:

  • Maternal Service Programs - Nurse home visitation programs; Prenatal Plus; access to prenatal and postpartum services

The Environmental Health Division's mission is concerned with controlling environmental conditions, both natural and man-made, to protect human health and well-being. Programs include:

  • food safety and restaurant inspection
  • environmental planning
  • septic systems
  • hazardous waste and cleanup
  • diseases carried by insects and/or animals
  • emergency preparedness and response
  • pandemic flu preparedness
