The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources is holding a public open house for interested neighbors and stakeholders regarding the Hermit Park Open Space Proposed Hunting Management Plan on Friday, May 4, 2012, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the main office at Hermit Park Open Space, Estes Park, Colorado.
tool. This management plan went through an extensive public process prior to adoption. Proposed is a limited- hunting opportunity to specialized, mentored user groups: youth through Partners in the Field, and mobility-impaired hunters through Outdoor Buddies. It would be late season (October-December), five to seven cow elk only, and limited to specific parts of the open space. For visitor safety, signs will be posted as appropriate, extra ranger staff scheduled as needed, pre-hunt safety meetings held, and all hunts escorted by the trained members of the sportsmen organizations.
