Larimer County Land Stewardship Manager Receives Prestigious Award
Tim D’Amato, Larimer County’s Land Stewardship Manager, was recognized at the Western Society of Weed Science (WSWS) March 2013 Conference with the award of “Outstanding Weed Manager.” The WSWS Weed Manager Award recognizes outstanding and sustained contributions in support of weed science activities by a public employee. 4/29/2013

Larimer County Recognized for Financial Excellence
Larimer County, Colorado - For the 29th year running, Larimer County has been awarded the 'Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting' by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. The County Finance Division received the award for their Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2011. Of the approximately 3,000 Counties in the US, only 16% qualified for the award. 3/19/2013

Local-State Partnership Award
Larimer County Department of Human Services Child & Family Services Manager Jim Drendel was recognized for his leadership by CCI with a "Local-State Partnership Award" for his efforts in a statewide partnership with CSU to develop and validate new risk assessment tools for child welfare. 11/28/2012

Plug in to Nature Project Wins Colorado Lottery Starburst Award
Larimer County and partners have received the Starburst Award for Excellence in the use of Lottery Funds in their analysis of the connections families have for the outdoors in Larimer County, entitled Plug in to Nature. 10/30/2012

Devil's Backbone Open Space Restoration Project Wins Award
The Larimer County Natural Resources Department is a recipient of a regional Colorado Open Space Alliance Award, the "Blue Grama Award" for an Ecological Management Program, for its restoration work at Devil’s Backbone Open Space. 10/3/2012

Health Department Effort Receives National Recognition
Software, envisioned by the Larimer County Department of Public Health and Environment and developed by County Information Technology and Health Department staff, has received the designation of "Bright Idea" by the Harvard Kennedy School of Government's Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. 9/26/2012

Averil "Avie" Strand honored as Woman of Distinction
Avie Strand, director of the Health Department's Community Health Services division, was named a Northern Colorado Woman of Distinction by the Northern Colorado Business Report. 8/13/2012

Sue Batey Receives Excellence in Practice Award
The Colorado Department of Human Services has given Larimer County's Suzette (Sue) Batey a statewide 'Excellence in Practice Award'. 5/25/2012

Web Application Receives Top State Transportation Award
The Larimer County Road Information Locator (RIL) application received the 1st place award in the Savvy Web Application competition at the 25th Annual Geographic Information System for Transportation Symposium. 5/2/2012

First-Ever Innovation Awards Winners
The Board of County Commissioners heard presentations from Larimer County's first-ever Innovation Awards Program winners. The program was initiated as a way to encourage long-time innovation at Larimer County by recognizing groundbreaking and/or novel approaches to providing County Services. 5/2/2012

Justice Center Wins Energy Saving Building Competition
Larimer County's Justice Center has won the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 2011 ENERGY STAR National Building Competition: Battle of the Buildings in the 'courthouse' category. The 8th Judicial District Green Team at the Larimer County Justice Center and Energy Conservation Specialist Stacey Baumgarn worked with the buildings occupants to save energy in the national competition. 11/15/2011

Department of Health and Enviroment Earns Public Health Emergency Preparedness Recognition
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) has recognized Larimer County Department of Health and Enviroment (LCDHE) for its ability to respond to public health emergencies. 8/4/2011

GIS Staff Wins National Award for Exceptional Achievement
Larimer County Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Mapping Group has received a Special Achievement Award for Exceptional Application of Geospatial Technology. The 'Special Achievement in GIS' award was given by Environmental Systems Research Institute. 7/20/2011

Workforce Center and Veteran's Representative Win Awards
Each year the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) bestows national awards on individuals, groups, or companies who have furthered employment opportunities for veterans in some way. Two national employment awards were presented to the Larimer County Workforce Center. 5/11/2011

Natural Resources Employee is Volunteer Coordinator of the Year
CJ Cullins, Natural Resources, was selected Volunteer Coordinator of the Year by the United Way and Directors of Volunteers in Agencies (DOVIA). 5/11/2011

Larimer County Wins Gold Well Workplace Award
Larimer County was awarded the Gold Well Workplace Award by CanDo, the Coalition for Activity and Nutrition to Defeat Obesity. CanDo Coordinator Virginia Clark said the award, received by Larimer County's Wellness Program Coordinator Liz DeJongh, was awarded to the County for their outstanding, results-oriented employee wellness program. 3/29/2011

Health Department Receives Award For Internship Program
The Larimer County Health Department's Environmental Health division was named the "2009-2010 Outstanding Internship Site" by CSU's Environmental Health Student Association. Workforce Center Employee Honored with Economic Development Excellence Award
Joni Friedman of the Larimer County Workforce Center was honored during the Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp.'s annual meeting. Friedman was given the Regional Economic Development Excellence Award based on her history of working across boundary lines to create new services to help people find jobs. 11/24/2009

Larimer County Wins Colorado Lottery Starburst Director's Choice Award for Hermit Park Open Space
The Colorado Lottery has awarded a 2009 Starburst Director's Choice Award to Larimer County for using Lottery dollars to enhance the community's open space resources. The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources tapped a $700,000 Great Outdoors Colorado grant to help purchase and preserve Hermit Park Open Space, a more than 1,300-acre parcel in Estes Park formerly owned by Agilent Technologies. 10/31/2009

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners recognized four outstanding local contractors, architects and engineers who provide a quality product to citizens in the unincorporated area of Larimer County. Commissioner Kathay Rennels Honored with Colorado "Friend of Extension" Award
This award, presented by Epsilon Sigma Phi, the Extension Professionals' Organization, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to and supported Extension programs over time. 10/6/2008

County Employment Specialist Receives Recognition
Katrina Daniel, Employment Specialist at the Larimer County Workforce Center won a statewide award at the Employment First conference, for placing nearly 200 people in jobs in program year 2008. Katrina had the highest number of customers obtaining employment in the entire state. This is the third year in a row that she has received this award. 9/25/2008

Website Receives Two First Place Awards
The recently re-designed Larimer County website, The Virtual Courthouse, received two first-place awards in the large population group (more than 100,000 citizens) at the 2008 annual conference of the National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW). 9/19/2008

The Larimer County Engineering Department in partnership with local contractor LaFarge Northern Paving has received a national award for excellence in roadway paving work related to the North Taft Hill Reconstruction Project. 4/23/2008

Larimer County Triumphs at State Posse Meet
The Larimer County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol has brought the Colorado Sheriff's Posse Association State Meet trophy to Larimer County. The trophy itself, affectionately called "The Old Man Trophy", is a one-of-a-kind, hand carved wooden figure of an old western sheriff. 9/7/2005

County Wins National Award for Public Information
The Board of Larimer County Commissioners honored Community Information Manager Deni La Rue for a Meritorious Award given by the National Association of County Information Officers, NACIO, in their Awards of Excellence 2005 competition. The NACIO award was given for 'Community at Work', a one-half hour public affairs radio show aired on local community radio station KRFC. 9/6/2005

Clerk & Recorder Scott Doyle Receives National Public Official of the Year Award
The National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC) awarded Scott Doyle the 2005 Public Official of the Year Award in recognition of his creation of the Citizen Information Center (CIC), proactive business and budget planning within the Clerk's office, and successful development and implementation of Vote Centers in Larimer County. 7/26/2005

A national survey conducted by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NACo) named the top-10 most technologically-advanced, cutting-edge county governments in the United States. Larimer County placed ninth in its population category. 9/16/2004

Health Official Honored with Prestigious Health Awards
Larimer County Department of Health and Environment's Community Health Services Director Avie Strand has received several prestigious health awards in the recent past. Strand was honored with the 2002 National Lillian Wald Award for Public Health Nursing Excellence. Strand also won Colorado's Lillian Wald Award in 2001 and a Colorado Nightingale nursing award in 1996. 11/24/2003

Workforce Center's Youth Programs Receive Awards
Two specialized programs for youth, an annual Youth Employment Conference and Operation Occupation, administered by the Larimer County Workforce Center have been cited by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment as "Exemplary and Innovative programs." 11/24/2003

Garbage Garage Wins National Award
The Larimer County Natural Resources Department has won the 'Best New Program Award' from the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association (NAHMMA) for it's Garbage Garage Education Center. 10/28/2003

Veterans Affairs Technician Given Distinguished Service Award
Fort Collins Veterans Service Organizations, as a group, honor Debra Pierson with 'Distinguished Service Award' plaque for her 'Dedication and Loyalty to Veterans'. 6/5/2003

Larimer County Parents Are State Foster Parents of the Year
Larimer County foster parents Louise and Jim East were named outstanding foster parents of the year by the Colorado State Foster Parent Association and the Colorado Coalition of Adoptive Families. The couple was presented the award at the 2002 Annual Education Conference on October 10 in Glenwood Springs. The Easts have served as foster parents for Larimer County for the last 17 years and have cared for numerous troubled and challenging children. The couple has also adopted two children. 10/17/2002

Human Services Wins Statewide Award
The Children, Youth and Family Services Division of Larimer County's Department of Human Services has won the statewide John Inmann Program Award from the Colorado Forum on Community & Restorative Justice. The Children, Youth and Family Services Division was nominated for this award due to their efforts in integrating restorative and community justice in child welfare cases. 10/15/2002

Budget Video Wins Excellent Award
The National Association of County Information Officers, NACIO, has awarded their second highest acknowledgment the , "2002 Excellent Award" for the Larimer County Budget Office video, "In Working Order". 10/8/2002

Planning Has Winning Landscape Information
This past spring the Larimer County Planning Department received an "Honor Award" in the Planning and Urban Design category, a Professional Design Award from the Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (CCASLA), for their Plant List and Landscape Guide. 8/20/2002

Workforce Center Receives Governor's Recognition
The Larimer County Workforce Center was recognized by Governor Bill Owens at a ceremony in Denver for their work on behalf of the Governor's Summer Job Hunt and the 2002 Youth Job Fairs. 5/31/2002
