Horsetooth Reservoir

The Horsetooth Hop is an observed trials bicycling competition. It will take place in and around the Sunrise Day use area of Horsetooth Reservoir. Observed trials sections will be marked to include rocks adjacent to the upper parking lot, rocks on the retaining slope between the lower parking lot and the beach, as well as any rock features exposed by the low water level. No sections will be marked on parking lot areas, or on established trails in the area.

The sections will be marked on the evening of Friday 1 November. All section marking materials will be removed by the end of competition on Saturday 2 November.

The total estimated number of participants is 30 riders, with 10 spectators. Toilet facilities will be the two on-site units. Garbage derived from used marking tape will be collected and disposed of by me. Spectator and participant garbage (lunch packaging, gatorade bottles, etc.) will be disposed of in on-site garbage cans.

Event Insurance will be obtained pending approval of this application.

In the event of an injury, we will call for emergency services.

The Larimer County Department of Health & Environment is available to consult on food safety for the event, and on licensing provisions for vendors involving any catered food service. Information is available on our website at

This event will occur on County open space. Details regarding the number of facilities and capacity for the event need to be coordinated with the Natural Resources Department.
