Horsetooth Reservoir

This will be our 3rd annual Paralympic Sport Club~ Adaptive Boating Clinic on Horsetooth Reservoir, which has become a highlighted event across the Front Range for people with disabilities and their families.
The City of Fort Collins Adaptive Recreation Opportunities (ARO) program/ Paralympic Sport Club-Fort Collins will host an adaptive boating clinic for people with disabilities, ages 12+. ARO is collaborating with several agencies to provide adaptive equipment and expertise. The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) from Winterpark will be bringing staff, canoes, adaptive equipment, Community Sailing for Colorado, Ltd. will bring an accessible sailboat to demonstrate to participants and Baby Seal Stand Up Paddle boards will have equipment on hand as well. ARO will provide a motorized safety boat for this event.

Approximately 20 participants with physical disabilities and disabled veterans will have the opportunity to go canoeing with the support of adaptive equipment and knowledgeable staff (approx. 10) learn about adaptive sailboats and stand up paddle boarding. We will be having lunch and relaxing at the spectacular and accessible Horsetooth Reservoir South Bay Pavilion. This collaborative event will provide resources and information to individuals about other recreational opportunities through ARO, NSCD, the Community Sailing for Colorado programs and Horsetooth reservoir.

The Horsetooth reservoir South Bay area is ideal for this event. It has a beautiful accessible pavilion and restroom facility with access to the water to launch the boats. The wake less area of the South Bay is perfect for the adaptive boats on a beautiful Friday morning.. Participants will register through the ARO program and sign the City’s waiver forms. They will pay the Horsetooth Reservoir daily entrance fee to come to the event.
