The Colorado Mountain Club's Youth Education Program (YEP) is planning to bring a group of students from Manual High School to Horsetooth Reservoir for a hiking and climbing program. Each day 45 students will split into 2 groups. One group will spend their day rock climbing while the other group will go for a hike and learn about environmental stewardship and LNT. They will camp that evening and the following day will switch activities meaning that the group who rock climbed the day prior will do the hiking program. July 16th 45 students will camp and when they leave on the 17th they will leave their tents set up. An instructor will stay with all of the gear for the evening of the 17th at the camping site and when the second group of 45 students arrive on July 18th they will all camp together and run through the same hiking/climbing activities over 2 days.

We will need a camping site reserved for 50 people (Teachers and students) for the evening of July 16, 17 and 18th. Student

All climbing instruction is monitored by an instructor with a minimum AMGA SPI certification and all activities are monitored by a Wilderness First Responder.

During the evening students will be monitored by their school teachers. During the day they are under the direct supervision of the Colorado Mountain Club staff.

We are a non-profit dedicated to getting youth out of doors and developing a respect for our natural resources. We are not charging this group for their experience so any assistance you can offer in waiving permit fees would be greatly appreciated.

This event will occur on County open space. Details regarding the number of facilities and capacity for the event need to be coordinated with the Natural Resources Department.

Comments: Please provide an Emergency Communications Plan which outlines how medical/fire/law enforcement will be contacted, if necessary, and ensure all staff are familiar with the plan. Also, please provide the name and cell phone number of a safety officer. This person will be responsible for ensuring that medical/fire/police are notified in the event of an emergency. This person should be available during the entire event in case we need to reach someone at the event.
