Brief Description: We want to have our wedding ceremony at Rotary Park day use area in the Horsetooth Reservoir County Park. The wedding reception will be hosted at a private location in Ft. Collins. There will be approximately 125 people at this event. We would like to bring in folding chairs for everyone. We will use several shuttles to transport people from the reception venue to the ceremony location (Rotary Park). This will limit the number of parking spaces occupied by the wedding participants.
Trash/Environmental Impact: There will be little trash at this event if there is any. We will be throwing rose petals down the aisle. The unity ceremony will not include fire or anything that could threaten the environment. The biggest environmental disturbance -will be the presence of 125 chairs in the Rotary Park day-use area.
Impacts on adjacent public and private lands: No loud noises are anticipated. No traffic and parking issues are expected because of the shuttles mentioned above. Little to no trash is expected.
Impact of other park users: Our ceremony will only take about an hour and we will provide a path from the parking lot to the trail head. I will post a small sign in the morning at the trail head letting people know that there will be a wedding ceremony between 4:00 and 5:00. This should eliminate, or at least limit, any conflicts we have with other park users. The day use area is large enough to accommodate 125 wedding guests while not interfering with the trail head nearby.
Compliance with other regulations and ordinances: I believe that we will be following local regulations and ordinances. Let me know if you see any possible issues. Just to reiterate, fire will not be used in our unity ceremony.
Staff and equipment requirements: A few family members will start setting up chairs around 1:00 for the 4:00 ceremony. We will also set up a small stereo system to play soft music. Family members and the DJ will take down the chairs and stereo system after the ceremony is completed around 5:00. We will also have an usher at the trail head/parking lot to direct other park users around the ceremony.
Alternatives: We really like Rotary Park and would prefer not to use another location. If it rains we will do the ceremony at our reception venue.
Availability of toilet/parking facilities: There is a public bathroom and 70+ parking spots at the Rotary Park day use area. This will be sufficient for our group of 125 people.
Reclamation of disturbed areas: The environment will be minimally disturbed by our group. People will be sitting for the majority of the time, and the constructed footpaths from the parking lot will be utilized as the paths to the seating area. We will be setting up the chairs where the picnic tables are typically located. There will be no foot traffic or chairs set up on sensitive natural areas.
Insurance: I am unsure what type of insurance is needed for an event like this.
Medical coverage and sanitation plan: This is a low risk event so we are not planning on having an EMT present. We have several nurses and doctors in the group if any issues arise. As far as sanitation goes, we will pick up our trash and ensure the day use area is in the same condition it was in before the ceremony.
Communication plan: There is no communication plan in place because there will be little traffic and the event is low risk.
