Devil's Backbone Open Space
As part of my Master's thesis, I plan on examining the ecosystem impacts of Common Mullein. This would entail a few days of field work every month, depending on various factors. I've listed everyday between 5-1-13 and 8-31-13 on the schedule, but that's only because I won't know which specific days we'll be out there until much closer to the field season. The research will most likely be completed by myself and one or two field assistants.
Field work will entail setting up plots inside current mullein populations, as well as plots adjacent to the populations. I will remove some mullein, while leaving other individuals as control plots. Measurements will be non-destructive, including metrics such as soil moisture, pollinator attendance, and plant community biodiversity indices.
I've found several suitable sites in the Devil's Backbone Open Space, none of which conflict with any current research in the area.
