On Thursday, July 13, 2017, an inmate in the custody of the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office was at her scheduled court appearance at the Larimer County Justice Center. The inmate, Kayla Perez (DOB: 02/09/98), began to argue with the judge. Two deputies escorted her out of the courtroom due to her behavior. As she was being moved out of the courtroom, she was able to free one hand from the handcuffs she was in and began fighting with both deputies. Additional deputies responded and Perez was secured and transported back to the Larimer County Jail. The inmate was uninjured during this incident, but she inflicted minor injuries to both deputies involved in the initial assault.

Deputies will screen this incident with the District Attorney’s Office and seek two allegations against Kayla Perez of Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer, a class 4 Felony.
The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
