Larimer County Sheriff's Office
On February 18, 2017, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 700 block of Glenn Ridge Drive in Fort Collins regarding a theft of a vehicle that had just occurred. An Uber driver reported that when he arrived at the destination, a female passenger began fighting with other passengers and refused to exit the vehicle. The driver got out to break up the fight and the female passenger locked the doors. She then drove the vehicle through a yard striking a retaining wall, a tree, and landscaping. The Uber driver stated he had to jump out of the way to prevent being run over prior to the female driving away. It was also reported that the female was very intoxicated.
LCSO deputies and Fort Collins Police Services officers located the stolen vehicle with heavy front end damage at North College Avenue and Myrtle Street where they conducted a high risk traffic stop. The female ignored numerous commands from FCPS officers to exit the vehicle. She eventually complied, but refused commands to move away from the vehicle. A FCPS officer deployed Pepperball at the ground near the female and later at her lower body in efforts to get her to comply. She was eventually taken into custody by LCSO deputies and FCPS officers without further incident.
The female was identified as Meagan Kathleen Osgood (02/26/1991) of Broomfield. She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation because of the exposure to Pepperball and any injuries she may have sustained when the vehicle struck the wall and tree in the 700 block of Glenn Ridge Drive. Osgood was cleared and later booked into the Larimer County Jail on the following allegations:
Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (Class 4 Felony);
Felony Menacing (Class 5 Felony);
Criminal Mischief (Class 6 Felony);
Obstructing Peace Officer (Class 2 Misdemeanor); and
Resisting Arrest (Class 2 Misdemeanor).
A booking photo of Osgood is attached and bond was set at $500. No further information will be released at this time.
The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
