Larimer County Natural Resources welcomes your feedback on recommendations being made to update the 2004 management plan for Devil’s Backbone Open Space, located just west of the City of Loveland, off of State Highway 34.

This update will address capacity challenges at the property and guide the management of the area for the foreseeable future. “Devil’s Backbone is a cherished and extremely popular destination for people from all over Northern Colorado,” said Jeffrey Boring, project manager for the management plan update. “We’re looking for public input on managing the open space to avoid conflicts between visitors, improve their experiences, and protect the natural and cultural resources that make it a special place to visit.”

Join us learn about the planning process and to offer feedback on a proposals including a re-design of the trailhead, a new trail in Hidden Valley, and educational components. The open house style format allows you to drop in anytime during the meeting.

Funding for the acquisition came from the ¼-cent citizen initiated Help Preserve Open Spaces Sales Tax. Today the area is a very popular recreation destination and receives over 100,000 visitors each year.
