After 20 years of providing leadership and administration for the CSU Larimer County Extension 4-H Program, Kathy Wolfe is retiring on June 30. During her tenure as Extension 4-H Agent, the County 4-H program has continued to attract youth from throughout the county into a wide variety of learning, leadership and skill-building experiences.

Larimer County's 4-H Club program is the largest in Colorado, with more than 1100 club members, approximately 800 outreach program participants, and 377 adult volunteer leaders. In Larimer County, 82 percent of the members live in towns or cities and 18 percent live on farms. The traditional club program is increasing in size and additional members are involved in the 4-H Science Out-Of-School program as well.
Ms. Wolfe has been instrumental in creating 4-H Cloverbud Kits that are used by numerous community organizations in addition to the 4-H Cloverbud project leaders. Seven years ago, she started the 4-H Fiber Fun Fest that is open to the public as well as serving as training for 4-H members in the fiber arts projects. She trained many organizations on how to involve and engage youth on community boards.
While overseeing aspects of county fairs, demonstration contests, leader orientations, and numerous other trainings and contests will be behind her, she says she continues to "bleed green". Her emphasis on developing youth that are prepared for the workforce and who exhibit strong leadership skills has benefited thousands of youth during the past twenty years.
A search is underway to fill the 4-H Extension Agent position, reports Laurel Kubin, County Extension Director, "Kathy leaves big shoes to fill."
