Larimer County, as well as several other affected counties in Colorado, have been approved for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) and Larimer County Human Services will be taking applications for this program from October 1 to October 4, 2013.
The Loveland Disaster Assistance Center has been established in Building B of the former HP/Agilent campus, 815 14th Street SW., with entrance from Taft Avenue.   D-SNAP eligibility hours will be 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. from Tuesday through Friday.  Persons impacted by the flood may also register with FEMA online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by telephone at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
D-SNAP provides temporary food assistance for households affected by a natural disaster. A D-SNAP provides one month of benefits to eligible disaster survivors and can facilitate the issuance of supplemental SNAP benefits for ongoing households. To be eligible for D-SNAP, a household must live in the identified disaster area, have been affected by the disaster, and meet certain D-SNAP eligibility criteria. Of note is that this program has different eligibility limits from regular Food Assistance and includes allowing deductions for certain disaster expenses that individuals may have paid.
