The Larimer County Office on Aging celebrated Older American’s Month with a ceremony honoring two outstanding older adults. Commissioner Steve Johnson presented awards for the Outstanding Family Caregiver of the year and the Outstanding Senior of the year.
A.J. Erwine of Loveland won the Outstanding Family Caregiver Award for her 10 years of loving care of her husband who is afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease. A.J. has simultaneously supported other caregivers, while facing her own difficult situation.
Walt Hayward of Loveland won the Outstanding Senior Award. Walt is a World War II veteran. In his retirement he took it upon himself to honor veterans in the senior community where he lives by organizing weekly breakfasts. Walt makes sure that each and every veteran is given the respect they deserve for the sacrifices they have made for our country.
The Office on Aging is pleased to recognize the achievements of these two award winners and would like to celebrate the vast contributions of seniors to our community.
