Community at Work is a weekly radio program on KRFC, 88.9 FM, that provides insight into issues that affect our communities by providing a closer look at the public agencies serving you.
This ½ hour show, Thursday evenings at 5:30 pm, is hosted by Larimer County, the Health District of Northern Larimer County, and the US Forest Service on a rotating basis. Larimer County's show is hosted by Community Information Manager Deni La Rue.
Each week, the host of Community at Work will interview guests about a topic that is relevant to our communities.

Community at Work received a 2007 Golden Microphone Award from KRFCfm for Outstanding Programming.
The National Association of County Information Officers, NACIO, awarded Community at Work a "Meritorious Award" in their Awards of Excellence 2005 competition.

- February 9, 2012 - On this edition of Community at Work, Larimer County's Deni La Rue talks with Laurel Kubin, Extension Director for Larimer County/CSU Extension about Financial Literacy and the Financial Literacy Initiative, a program she started in Larimer County. We'll hear why this program is important, how financial literacy is taught, why people need it, and more.
- January 12, 2012 - On this edition of Community at Work, Deni La Rue and Larimer County Assistant County Manager Neil Gluckman discuss what's in store in 2012 from some important topics of 2011 and how those items impact the public.
- December 8, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work, Deni La Rue talks with Larimer County's Lynette McGowan, Caregiver Support Coordinator at the County's Office on Aging about the needs and issues that arise during family visits and the holidays. One of the programs Lynette coordinates is the Powerful Tools for Caregivers.

- October 13, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work, Deni La Rue talks with Larimer County Commissioner Steve Johnson and Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith about how public safety is funded in Larimer County.
- September 8, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work, Deni La Rue talks with the County's Open Lands Manager Kerri Rollins and Larimer County Education Specialist Rob Novak about the ground breaking program Larimer County is heading that looks at the connections between youth and families and the natural environment. Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) picked Larimer County's Natural Resources Department earlier this year to create a pilot program that serves GOCO's goal of increasing youth and family participation in the out-of-doors. We talked with Rollins and Novak last April on CAW and now we catch up with them to see how the project is going.
- August 11, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work, Deni La Rue talks with Alison Stoven O'Connor - Larimer County/CSU Extension Horticulture Agent and Edie McSherry, the Nutrition, Health and Food Safety Extension Agent for Larimer County Extension. Alison updates us on the weekly Larimer County Farmer's Market which runs through October 15. In addition to the Farmer's Market, now in its 36th year, Alison also coordinates the Larimer County's Master Gardener Program. Edie also coordinates the Master Food Safety Advisor Program and conducts the food preservation classes as well as programs for safe food handling for restaurant workers.
- July 14, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work, Larimer County's Deni La Rue talks with Mark Johnston of the Larimer County Workforce Center who manages the Training Center's Adult and Youth Programs. Two of Mark's teenage participants join the show, Eric Hoenig and Rachel Greiner. Eric shares his experiences with the Young Entrepreneurs program and Rachel with the Career Road Trips program.
- June 9, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work, Deni La Rue talks with Alison Stoven O'Connor - Larimer County/CSU Extension Horticulture Agent. Alison also is the Coordinator of the Master Gardener Program & Larimer County's Farmers' Market. The Market, now in its 36th year, gets underway in Old Town Fort Collins on Saturday, June 25.
- May 12, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work, Deni La Rue talks with Larimer County Office on Aging Program Manager Ruth Long about the status of older Americans and the services we provide in Larimer County. May is Older Americans Month and Long and La Rue discuss the department's 4 year plan and the results of a recent Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults in Larimer County.

- February 10, 2011 - On this edition of Community at Work we hear from Larimer County Commissioner Lew Gaiter. He was recently sworn-in to his first elected term in office, although he'd been appointed in January of 2010 to fill a vacant seat. Topics include: does it feel different to have that 'elected' mandate from citizens?; skill set - what Commissioner Gaiter brings to the table; 'efficiency' and 'economic development' two important concepts to Commissioner Gaiter; biggest issues Larimer County will face over the next few years; your goals for office; legislative involvement in Colorado and nationally; and, Okay, for fun…you ski! But more than that you are part of a ski patrol team.
