County Offices, Courts and Landfill will be closed on Monday, July 4 for the Independence Day Holiday. Critical services at Larimer County are not disrupted by closures.
Larimer County Cooperative Extension Advisory Meeting

The meeting was held at the Larimer County Extension Office in Fort Collins. Those present were Suzanne Jarboe-Simpson, Sandra Kolodziej, David Lee, Robert Knebl, Kelly DiMartino, Ralph Bender, Mary Robertson, Alberto Squassabia, Rob Ryan, Extension Director Laurel Kubin and Fred McClanahan, Jr.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. by Rob Ryan. Introductions were made and minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Extension Showcase will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 1 in the Champion Auto Group Restaurant at the Budweiser Events Center at The Ranch. Rob Ryan explained Showcase to the new committee members. Prospective guests will get a "save the date" card, a personal invitation from a committee member and a follow-up invitation letter.
Four or five speakers will talk about how Cooperative Extension has helped them. Presentations will be 10 minutes in length and will be video taped. It was suggested that speakers reflect on resource savings during their talks. Other topics suggested for discussion are the results of the needs assessment survey and what's important to help officials understand more about Cooperative Extension. It was also suggested to invite someone from NPR at KUNC in Greeley and Sara Phillips from the Berthoud Surveyor Newspaper.
Staff updates and vacancy status:
Interviews for the Horticulture agent position will be held on October 12. Rob Ryan and Ralph Bender volunteered to be part of the interview committee. We hope to have this position and the Food Stamp Nutrition (FSN) agent position filled by the end of 2005.
Edie McSherry (Extension Agent, Food Safety) will be 75% time beginning January 1.
Results are being compiled and results will be available for the next meeting.
The Northern Region staff will work across contiguous county lines in an informal basis depending on case by case needs.
Upon a request from Advisory members, information about Colorado economic recovery was provided. The League of Women Voters will have more information in a broadcast on September 22.
There was an information booth at the County Fair for recruiting 4-H members.
The Rocky Mountain Ag Showcase will be held December 8-10 at The Ranch. Information about this new event can be found on The Ranch website.
The next meeting will be November 3, 2005.
