Larimer County Cooperative Extension Advisory Meeting

November 1, 2007



The meeting was held in the Extension Office Meeting Room in Fort Collins.  Those present were   Marsha Dooley, Rob Knebl, Ellen Donovan, Jessie Mae Hendrickson, Valerie Clark, Sandra Larson, Pam Harrold, Rob Ryan, Trena Anastasia, Ralph Bender, Kyle Uhlmann, Suzanne Jarboe-Simpson, Alberto Squassabia, Extension Director Laurel Kubin, Extension Agent Kathy Wolfe, and Fred McClanahan, Jr.


The meeting was called to order at 8:10 a.m.    Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.  Introductions were made. 


Agent Report


Kathy Wolfe, Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development reported on several areas in the 4-H program.

Plans for 2008

            Training in small engines, electrics, photography woodworking, horseless horse, parliamentary procedure, Cloverbud leader training, cake decorating, sewing & quilting.

            Fiber Fun Day

            Market livestock carcass contests at the County Fair

            Demonstration practice day

            Creative Cooks workshop

            Kathy is president-elect of the Colorado Association of Extension 4-H Agents


Director’s Report


  • Larimer County Extension is hosting a seminar for realtors of small acreages
  • The Rocky Mountain Conference on Aging in the Workplace was very successful
  • The 2006-2007 Master Gardener year will conclude with a recognition banquet.
  • The Larimer County Alliance for Grandfamilies is developing plans for a website.
  • Food Stamp Nutrition Education has many upcoming classes.
  • Osteoporosis prevention program Strong Women will be starting a new series in 2008.
  • Recidivism Prevention (new opportunity for Extension) educates individuals who have been incarcerated and helps them to remain out of prison.
  • Updates for the 2008 Larimer County Fair


Extension Showcase Planning


Showcase will be held in the restaurant at the Budweiser Events Center on December 6.  Staff and advisory committee members are asked to arrive at 11:30 a.m., lunch and program start promptly at 12 Noon, with adjourment by 1:30 p.m.


The new Extension Annual Report should be complete and on the tables at Showcase.

Trends and Issues


One person in five in Larimer County lives in a household that is at poverty level.



The meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
