Workforce Center Receives Governor's Recognition

The Larimer County Workforce Center was recently recognized by Governor Bill Owens at a ceremony in Denver for their work on behalf of the Governor's Summer Job Hunt and the 2002 Youth Job Fairs. Larimer County was the only participating county that produced two separate Job Fairs (one in Fort Collins and one in Loveland). The Workforce Center was cited by Julie Berge, Director of the Governor's Summer Job Hunt, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, for "Insightful collaboration with their local Workforce Investment Board's Youth Council and school districts (Poudre School District and Thompson School District)."

The Youth Job Fairs attracted more than 40 employers to the Fort Collins event and more than 25 employers to the Loveland event. More than 750 youth attended the Fort Collins Job Fair and nearly 500 youth attended the event in Loveland. Workforce Center staff Christopher Pouppirt, who coordinated the Loveland Job Fair, and Mark Johnston, coordinator of the Fort Collins Job Fair, said they were extremely satisfied with these results. Joyce Benesh-Williams, the Chairperson of the Larimer County Youth Council, said she was grateful for the efforts of all of the partners involved with the planning and delivery of these two events.
