National Construction Quality Award

The Larimer County Engineering Department in partnership with local contractor LaFarge Northern Paving has received a national award for excellence in roadway paving work related to the North Taft Hill Reconstruction Project.

The award program is administered by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), and recognizes exceptional quality in asphalt pavement projects. All public and private projects constructed within the United States may be considered. The pavement is judged by the National Center for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University. A set of national standards is used by reviewers, and award winners who are chosen from thousands of eligible projects, reflect exemplary work. The award is for 2007 projects and was announced earlier this year.

The project was completed last summer and reconstructed about one mile of North Taft Hill Road in the vicinity of Vine Drive in northwest Fort Collins. Paving related to the project included the travel lanes, addition of bike lanes, and pavement in the modern roundabout at the intersection of Taft Hill and Vine Drive.
