Conducted seven biennial reappraisals of all real and personal property in Larimer County, Colorado. Managed a staff of 50 and an annual operating budget of $2 million. The total value of all properties valued in 2002 was approximately $14 billion.
Honored as the first Assessor of the Year in Colorado. Served as President of the Colorado Assessors Association and as chairman of that association's legislative, audit, finance, and assessment issues committees.
Steve grew up in Colorado Springs and Littleton. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Denver. He moved to Ft. Collins in 1978 to go to graduate school after leaving the Navy. He has a Masters of Science degree from Colorado State University.
He is married to Cheryl Miller. Cheryl recently retired from the CSU Animal Sciences Department. Steve and Cheryl share their home with two Australian Shepherds, Tyler and Maggie. Cheryl is gaining national renown for her latest scrapbooking venture, CroppingCooks.com.
Steve and Cheryl have a combined family of four grown sons: Allan Miller, who works in the construction management field in the San Francisco area;; Matt Buster, who works in Fort Collins; Ehren Miller, a Sergeant in the Marine Corps stationed in Iraq; and Kelly Buster, a Corporal in the Marine Corps also stationed in Iraq.
